Environmental Factors Play a Major Role in Autism

Until recently, genetics were thought to account for 90 percent of a child's risk for autism, but a new Stanford University School of Medicine study suggests environmental factors could play a much larger role than previously thought. Stanford researchers conducted the largest autism study to date and found a greater number of fraternal twins shared autism than identical twins. Because identical twins share nearly the same DNA, if there were an important genetic component to autism, if one identical twin has autism, so should their identical sibling in the vast majority of cases.

In reality, the majority of autism cases appear to result from the activation, or "expression," of a number of different genes and multiple epigenetic and environmental factors that interact to express autism traits. When looking into the possible environmental factors for autism, they are incredibly diverse. Among the most common factors listed are inflammation of the brain due to encephalitis following vaccination, or toxins from food and environment; unbalanced intestinal microflora due to antibiotic overuse or contraceptive pills (both by mothers of autistic children).

Autism has gone from being a disease affecting 1 in every 10,000 to 1 in every 150 in just ten short years.

My comment

I find it very discouraging that the medical community is reluctant to hear the voices of so many parents around the world.  These parents, all having similar stories, have reported that their previously healthy children have developed autism or other psycho neurological problems after vaccinations.  Doctors and pharmacists also tend to ignore parents reports regarding diet and improvements in the condition of their children when adjustments to diet were made.

The medical community and pharmaceutical industry are quick to dismiss these connections and argue with studies – even studies that they have organized and sponsored.  The doctors and pharmacists are dependent on one another and profit from the use of drug treatments, vaccinations, medical procedures, etc.  The industry itself is dependent on sick people.  If people are generally healthy and reluctant to use conventional medicine, the industry will suffer financially. This is the reason so many in the medical community continue to vehemently fight for the common treatments, whether or not they prove harmful.
