Contraceptive pills in summary
- Use of any hormonal contraceptives contains certain risks, including the possibility of serious damage to health, disability, and death.
- The pills suppress the natural female cycle and regular bleeding is only artificially set bleeding, given by the discontinuation of the active substance, which has nothing to do with the natural female cycle.
- It is the decision of the producers, whether they set the "interval of period " for 28 days, 3 months or cancel it completely.
- In addition to the suppression of natural bleeding, the pill also significantly affects the formation of many of the body's own hormones and the hormone balance of the organism.
- There are no studies on the long-term effect of using pills nor are there studies comparing the overall health of women treated with pills and women with a natural cycle, including their psychological well-being.
- Taking pills can result in not only weight gain and mood swings, but also circulatory and gastrointestinal problems that may lead to nutrient imbalances.
- Due to the seriousness of health risks associated with hormonal pills I recommend to all my clients that they use natural methods of birth planning.
Contraceptive pills

Using an oral contraceptive is both effective and relatively simple, but it is important to weigh the benefit of convenience against the considerable risks in using this method. Birth control pills are linked to numerous very serious health risks.
Most birth control pills, patches, vaginal rings and implants contain a combination of the derivatives of the hormones estrogen and progestin. They work by mimicking these hormones in your body to fool your reproductive system by preventing your ovaries from releasing eggs, thickening your cervical mucus to help block sperm from fertilizing an egg or thinning the lining of your uterus, which makes it difficult for an egg to implant, should it become fertilized.
However, the reproductive system is not an isolated organ, but is connected to all other bodily systems, and therefore the pill is capable of altering much more than the reproductive status. The hormonal contraceptives contain the same synthetic hormones as those used in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) which has well-documented risks, including an increased risk of blood clots, stroke, heart attack, and breast cancer.
Those who take the pills use hormonal therapy much longer then HRT users so therefore it is reasonable to expect more severe health problems. By taking the contraceptive pills women are, for example, putting themselves at risk of cancer (women who take birth control pills increase their risk of cervical and breast cancers, and possibly liver cancer as well), fatal blood clots (all birth control pills increase the risk of blood clots and subsequent stroke), impaired muscle gains, long-term sexual dysfunction, yeast overgrowth and infection, migraines, weight gain, and mood changes.
Because the health risks of hormonal contraceptives are so significant, and many safer options exist, I advise against them and recommend to all my clients that they use natural family planning methods.
My recommendations
- In the case that you are using any form of natural family planning methods (i.e. practicing the temperature and mucus method) and are happy with this method as well as with its limitations, congratulations and I recommend continuing.
- If you are looking for a natural, but also easy to apply and highly reliable protection method, I recommend mini-computers Lady-Comp and pearly which predict fertility based on the program with hundreds of thousands of cycles and the temperature measured in the mouth.
- In the case that you are taking hormonal contraceptives I suggest that you gather information about its risks, including those nutritional, and take it all into consideration.
